Duckhouse, D.A. The Australasian genera of pericomoid Psychodidae (Diptera) and the status of related Enderlein genera in the neotropics. Invertebrate taxonomy 3(6): – DOI: /IT Reference page. [see p. ]. Two new genera and five new species of spider flies (Diptera: Acroceridae) are described from the Neotropical Region.A new genus of Philopotinae (Neophilopota brevirostris Schlinger gen. et sp. n.) is described from Mexico, while an unusual new species of Sphaerops Philippi, (Acrocerinae: Sphaerops micella Schlinger sp. n.) is described from Chile.
All four genera are found on Neotropics, but Hydroscapha is the only one not endemic to this region. Torridincolidae has about 40 species distributed in seven genera, but only three are found on Neotropics (Claudiella, Iapir, and Ytu). Both families are of very small beetles (– mm) which, combined with their cryptic habitats, reflects. Introduction. Mycetophilidae (Diptera) is composed of genera and ~ described species from all biogeographic regions (Pape et al. ).In the Neotropical region it is one of the most species-rich dipteran families with described species (Oliveira and Amorim ).Mycetophilidae adults are often found in moist environments—usually in damp woods, tunnels, in the cavities under.
Biology. Stylogastrines are obligate associates of Cockroaches, Orthoptera, some Diptera and ants.. These flies typically use army ants' raiding columns to flush out their prey, ground-dwelling Orthoptera and/or astrines are somewhat atypical for conopids, in that the egg itself is shaped somewhat like a harpoon, with a rigid barbed tip, and the egg is forcibly jabbed into the host. Experts in each of the seven infraorders have drawn together the scattered literature to provide detailed treatments of each major taxon.
A review is provided of the morphological and behavioural observations known for the recorded termitophilous and other termite-associated species of Phoridae (scuttle flies) known worldwide. A full list of these termite-associated phorids is provided, together with their recorded termite hosts, as.

Mammals of the Neotropics. Vol. by Eisenberg, J.f.; Redford, K.h. at Pemberley Books. In context of biogeography, Neotropic or Neotropical means one of the world's eight terrestrial ecozones.
This ecozone includes South and Central America, the Mexican lowlands, the Caribbean islands, and southern Florida, because these regions share a large number of plant and animal groups.
It is sometimes used as a synonym for the tropical area of South America, although the ecozone also. The Calliphoridae (commonly known as blow flies, blow-flies, carrion flies, bluebottles, greenbottles, or cluster flies) are a family of insects in the order Diptera, with 1, known maggot larvae, often used as fishing bait, are known as gentles.

Amongst Maruinini, they are like several Neotropical genera named by G. Enderlein (), but their actual relationship to Enderlein's genera, and hence their identity, has been a long-standing taxonomic problem.
